News from Greg Johnson –

Our GCSA good friend and mentor, Gary Esping, passed away peacefully on July 3rd, 2024 in Minnesota, with his loving wife, Evelyn and family at his side.  Although Gary’s passing was anticipated and not unexpected since he has been in hospice since February, it is never easy to announce what we knew would be inevitable due to Gary’s illness.

Many of us communicated with Gary and Evelyn during these past months and their strength and positive outlook during Gary’s health challenges was so admirable and reassuring to his family and friends.  Not surprising to those who knew and loved Gary and Evelyn during their 25+ years at Gold Canyon and their active involvement in the Gold Canyon Softball Association.

Gary was a player, coach, President, Treasurer and League Coordinator for the GCSA, as well as a mentor and friend to so many of us.  He was an icon of the GCSA and he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed as one of the best representatives and supporters of our Association.

May Gary rest in peace.
