Player Registration status as of 3/20/2024

I would like to thank the players that have registered already – 22 to date out of 47 active players in the GCSA.  So that leaves us with 25 to go!   PLEASE try to register before leaving the park for home, the sooner we get the information the better job we can do getting organized for next year.
Greg Johnson sent out an email on 3/14/2024 with the instructions on how to do the player registration online.   If someone needs that email again, contact me at 717-926-4325 or gcsa.web.master@gmail.com and I will forward that email to you.

Gary Esping Batting Cage Dedication

Thought you would enjoy seeing the attached pictures & short video of the GCSA dedication of Gary Esping’s honorary plaque at the Batting Cage yesterday, Tuesday, March 12th, 2024.  There were about 50 players, spouses/partners and associates at the dedication.  It was a proud event for everyone in attendance, which is a testament of how much we respect and miss you both.
The plaque will be permanently mounted on the building behind us (in the middle above Charlie’s head in the picture) which is our softball storage shed by the GCSA Batting Cage.  It will be seen by anyone using the Batting Cage.

Congratulations to the Miners!

The Miners won the Superstition League Division 2 for the 2024 season today!

The Miners defeated the Superstition Sunrise Sunrays in the semi-finals by a score of 10-7, and the finals against our neighbors, the Canyon Vista Eagles, was a GREAT game with lots of momentum swings.  The Miners pulled out the victory in the bottom of the 7th inning with a clutch rbi single by Rich Pianowski that sealed the victory by a score of 16-15.

This is the the 4th consecutive year that the Miners have won their respective division titles.  Over the last few years they’ve won Division 4, 3, and this year 2.

Batting cage to be named and dedicated to Gary Esping!

At Sunday night’s “Pot Luck”, Earl Peery came forward  with a great idea to the membership.  He presented a wonderful and fully deserved idea of naming  and dedicating our batting cage after Gary Esping.

Gary has been a consistent and amazing presence in the GCSA for 25 years.  He served as a player, coach, manager, President, Treasurer, League Coordinator, Golf Coordinator, Mentor and especially, “Friend”.

Earl  suggested that as soon as the plaque can be produced, we should perhaps have a dedication ceremony at the batting cage for both players in their uniforms,  as well as any spouses / partners that want to participate and take a group picture to send to Gary & Evelyn Esping.  The membership will be kept aware of when this will occur.

Thanks, Gary, you are missed!
